Writers: Release yourself from the “time is money” trap [The Writer’ s Life]( March 30, 2023 "If you don't find a way to make money while you sleep, you will work until you die." – Warren Buffett Hi {NAME}, "That ain't workin' that's the way you do it Money for nothin' and your chicks for free" You've probably heard those lyrics at some point. They're from the classic Dire Straits "Money for Nothing" video with two working-class men lamenting their hard life of drudgery compared to that of a rock star guitarist. It was the first video to play for the launch of MTV Europe … and it's had plenty of airtime worldwide since. Well, today's opportunity for writers isn't money for nothing … But it IS money for [working just 10 minutes a day](. That's close to nothing in my book! 😃 But before I share the details, let's talk about money in general for a minute. I've always been interested in money … Not investing or finance, but how you make it. Needless to say, the last 19 years I've spent with AWAI have been amazing … I've learned more about making money than I could have ever imagined. About nine years ago, I was sitting in the back of the Ballroom in Delray Beach listening to B2B Expert Steve Slaunwhite talk about the business side of copywriting. My ears perked up when he said, "Every year I give myself a raise. And so far to date, every year, I've earned it." Funny how a memory can be so clear. I feel like I'm right back in that room as I write this … with my littlest one strapped to my chest in a baby carrier. Steve went on to explain how he changed up his effort or approach to running his business each year to make more than the year before. And in that moment, my form of "goal setting" as it pertained to money was solidified forever. Make more money than the year before. Simple, right? So, you can imagine my excitement after talking to the Master of Clientless Copywriting, Ben Settle, on Tuesday … When he shared his ultra-powerful "exponential growth money-multiplier" secret to making millions as a writer … … and how to obliterate any kind of "upper limit" on the kind of money you can make as a writer, forever. Plus, we talked about the benefits of building a clientless writing business like Ben's, where you get … - Full control - No deadlines - To write about things that energize YOU … But one of the biggest benefits of all has to be the money. As AWAI Co-Founder Paul Hollingshead illustrates [here](, it's like a snowball rolling down a hill of packing snow — it keeps growing … and growing … and growing! $200 soon turns into $300 a day … then $500 a day … then $1,000 … then $2,000 … But as he shows you in his letter, with a clientless business, you don't have to "work" any harder to earn $2,000 in a day than you did to earn $200! It's not about billable hours or taking on more assignments. It's about putting more and more readers — your OWN readers — into a "system" that is already up-and-running. [You can learn more about Ben's business (and that system) here.]( A successful copywriter for more than 15 years, Ben grew tired of the client demands and went in pursuit of a less stressful way to make money writing. He created a blueprint that works and now, he 'works' about 10 minutes a day. And, he spends the rest of his time doing … well … maybe nothing. He stopped trading his "time for money," yet he's been making over six-figures a year writing for a decade now, without any clients. When your income isn't tied to the hours you spend working … That's ultimate freedom. And if you're ready to start growing a clientless income stream NOW, Ben is accepting writers into his program for one more day. [I recommend you check it out …]( Ben's system has worked out very nicely for AWAI Member Michael Rhodes, who wrote to Ben about his experience and recollections … I've been able to write almost daily and not overthink everything or succumb to analysis paralysis. I've impressed enough clients to reach a six-figure income. Even though I'm no 'A-lister,' I often have a '10-minute workday,' at least the copywriting portion of the day. I'm still working on selling my stuff and becoming client-independent. 10-Minute Workday is value-packed, and the price is unbeatable. It'll help you run if you've already learned to walk. In the run-up to the 2016 AWAI Bootcamp in Delray Beach featuring Clayton Makepeace, Dan Kennedy, and Carline Anglade-Cole, they announced that you were speaking. I had just found the Antipreneur podcast and binged it before Bootcamp. I had no networking skills and crippling introversion. So between sessions, I asked you for advice. You said something like, 'Sell your own stuff.' Later, at the hotel bar, I mentioned to you that I had just spoken with Clayton Makepeace. You said, 'Clayton's here?' and took off. I was brand spanking new, but seeing your reaction to Clayton's name told me I needed to study these copywriters more intensely and pay attention to what they offered. So, between sessions, I spoke with curmudgeonly Dan Kennedy about his 'Over My Shoulder' program. I talked to the incredibly kind Clayton Makepeace, who offered me a job if I was willing to move to Florida. They announced the 10-Minute Workday program that weekend. AWAI released it a few weeks later, and I immediately bought it. The program led directly to the results I mentioned above. It's so exciting to hear stories like Michael's, and know our members are creating their own versions of the writer's life. There are so many ways you can use your skills to generate more income. And writing what you want — without clients — in a short 'workday' is one of the best.
