{NAME}, Today is the one-year anniversary of the horrific Dobbs Supreme Court decision that overturned Roe v. Wade. It is a somber day that reminds us of the battle we face. A while back, I reached out and shared the devastating consequences of abortion bans and severe restrictions. It remains as true today as it was then. Everyone deserves the right to choose. Here's the truth, {NAME}, we need an unapologetically pro-choice majority in Congress. That's going to take this movement showing up again and again for abortion rights. [Can you chip in now and help fuel the movement for choice today?]( Support for abortion rights is strong, with the majority of Americans in support. It's time we come together and stop the erosion of reproductive rights in our country once and for all. More soon, Andy Forwarded Message {NAME}, Since the Supreme Court struck down Roe this summer, states across the country have cut off access to reproductive care and have criminalized doctors, while anti-choice members of Congress work to ban abortion nationwide. By eliminating the federal right to choose, right-wing extremists have set our country on a dangerous path. The consequences aren't abstract, and they're not mysterious: In a study of 11 wealthy countries, the United States had the highest maternal mortality rate. 80% of all maternal-related mortalities were from preventable conditions. For American women, pregnancy could be a death sentence. Personal health decisions should be made by a woman and her doctor, politicians don't belong in those conversations. In New Jersey, we are fortunate to have state laws that protect women's freedoms. But even in states where abortion is protected, access in rural areas is limited, and clinics are overwhelmed with patients traveling from out of state. Women's rights have been fundamentally degraded, as millions of women are denied their right to choose when or whether to have a family. Here's the truth: most Americans support access to safe and legal abortion. This year many states have expanded protections for abortions, abortion funds have popped up everywhere, and when abortion has been on the ballot, voters have chosen to protect it. Each day we are making progress, no matter how small. This isn't a time to sit on the sidelines. To restore reproductive rights, we'll have to energize a grassroots movement like never before. I will always stand on the side of the freedom to choose. And I promise to do everything in my power to expand access across every state. Andy Paid for by Andy Kim for Congress.
