Write directly to President Biden [View in Browser]( [Amnesty International candle logo]( [Increase in Violence: Help End Apartheid »]( {NAME}, Palestinian civilians in the Jenin refugee camp are reeling following last week’s military attack by Israeli forces — the largest operation in nearly 20 years. People are sifting through the wreckage after they were woken up in the middle of the night and forced to flee from their homes. This invasion reflects a deadly escalation of a long-standing campaign of unlawful use of force and human rights abuses against Palestinians. Decades of Amnesty research has shown that the Israeli government maintains a system of apartheid that violates international law and deliberately oppresses Palestinians. But right now, we have an opportunity to do something about it: President Biden is meeting with Israeli President Herzog next week. [Before they meet, we want President Biden to receive a flood of letters demonstrating the significant demand there is to end the suffering and protect human rights. To do that, we need the strength of our Amnesty community. We’ve set a goal of 10,000 letters by midnight — can you send yours today?]( [Brian Castner examines rubble of destroyed building in Ukraine]( The U.S. is in a position to hold the Israeli government accountable by not using U.S. taxpayer support to perpetrate human rights abuses, but President Biden must hear from Amnesty members like you. Your message could lead to tangible progress that will protect the lives and rights of everyone living in the Occupied Palestinian Territories and in Israel. Together, we must demand the following actions until the Israeli government dismantles its apartheid system: - A halt to U.S. military and and security funding [»]( - An arms embargo on Israel’s military [»]( {NAME}, as violence in the region escalates, we need every voice to join in. [Take one minute to write to President Biden now to ensure that he sees and acts on our demands to end human rights abuses in the Occupied Palestinian Territories and Israel. Help us reach our goal of 10,000 signatures by midnight.]( [Make your voice heard]( Thank you for taking action, Elizabeth Rghebi Advocacy Director, Middle East and North Africa Amnesty International USA P.S. We recognize that the legal analysis that a system of apartheid is in place can be a challenging topic. We also understand that the human rights situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territories and Israel impacts each of us differently based on our identities, experiences, relationships and history. In every context, [we must put human rights first](. When a crime against humanity is being committed, the international community is obligated to hold those responsible to account.
