This much-quicker version is perfect for a regular Tuesday night dinnerâgo from slicing potatoes (use a mandoline if you have one) to setting the cheesy masterpiece on the table in 1 hour. You can also prepare this up to the final baking step 24 hours in advance, then bake right from the fridge. This recipe can easily be doubled. [â] This is the perfect recipe. Our newest make-ahead dessert sensation comes together in minutes (but no one has to know!). Itâs based on the classic Nabisco icebox cake, in which chocolate wafer cookies are layered with whipped cream and refrigerated until the cookies soften and take on a cake-like texture. For this version we used classic fall flavors: gingersnaps, canned pumpkin, brown sugar, and cinnamon. We added cream cheese for extra body and a cheesecake-like tanginess and dusted it with cocoa powder just because. This dessert is sweet and rich, a little goes a long way, and itâs designed to feed a crowd. [â] Amazing recipe! For a showpiece dessert, this is about as easy as they come. The result is a similar texture as a mousse or maybe even the filling of a pumpkin pie.
