It’s clearing and recalibrating stock in its warehouses. But that doesn’t mean a shopper can’t get a great deal. We’re ready to cover the deals as they go live next week on Tuesday, October 8, and Wednesday, October 9. You have to be a Prime Member to participate. As service journalists specializing in kitchen gear we comb the list of thousands of products searching for those that did well in our reviews, which are always unbiased, science-backed, and carried out with hands-on testing in our lab in Boston. We also flag products on sale that notably did not rate well in our reviews and recommend what to get instead, so you don’t waste your money. Here are our tips for getting the most out of Prime Day. - Shop early. We’ve noticed a trend of more sales starting before the official two Prime Days and running out quickly. A few of our top products from testing are already on sale, such as the incredibly luxe and gifty [Breville Espresso Machine](. Or our [winning potato ricer from Chef’n]( just in time for the holidays. And the number-one most-asked-after appliance at the ATK staff equipment giveaway this year: rice cookers. Our [best buy model from Toshiba is also on sale early](. - Make a list of things you need and want, then shop the sales. Amazon is very good at making deals seem Not to Be Missed. Make a list so that you get what you want and need, not the gadget de jour. - Become a review skeptic. When we’re doing product research we’ll always read the reviews, but with a cynical eye. So many are fake. “Oh, your product is brand new and already has 300 five-star reviews? Interesting . . .” We sort the reviews “worst-first” to get at what people are really saying. - Take advantage of the timing for holiday shopping. Every fall I complain about two things. First, that the holidays are starting too soon (my HomeGoods decked the halls in August). And second, that I don’t start my holiday shopping soon enough. This year I’m starting a list now and checking it twice, against the sales. It’s gonna be my year to be less frazzled around the holidays.
