Celebrate with party food & drinks [Find Recipes]( [Join Now]( [Login]( [America's Test Kitchen: Notes from the Test Kitchen]( [America's Test Kitchen: Notes from the Test Kitchen]( [For layout only]( [A collection of recipes from this newsletter and images of the America's Test Kitchen cast]( Make ’Em Laugh [Bridget Lancaster's Headshot]( [Bridget Lancaster]( Co-Host, America's Test Kitchen Many of you have or will be tuning in this week to the America’s Test Kitchen 25th Anniversary Special, and I can’t wait for you to see it. Julia and I had a grand time cooking with each other and cooking for our castmates. Of course, the goal in the special is the same as for our regular shows—we’re there to ensure that you, the viewer, are fully entertained and learn more about cooking. But when you get a bunch of people in the same room who share a love of cooking and really enjoy each other’s company—well, that’s exactly where the magic happens. I love watching outtakes, and I now know that unexpected flubs or moments of laughter can be absolutely necessary to break the tension during filming. After all, yes, we are making a TV show, but we are cooking alongside people who are like family. I especially loved Dan’s comment when discussing Lisa’s unorthodox methods of testing [skillet]( longevity, and I’d make extra [margaritas]( for Elle any day. Our regular season (season 25) is also coming out soon, and there are so many funny moments during filming. Julia and I had as much fun as one can have wearing safety goggles and chemical-resistant gloves (by the way, the [pretzels]( are out of this world), but you can see that everyone had a chuckling moment or two. I’d be remiss if I didn’t close with one of the best-known blooper moments in ATK history: the [sticky buns]( from season 17. It was Julia’s and my first season as hosts and this recipe came at the end of the first week of filming. We were exhausted at this point—adrenaline can only hold you up so long before you crash—and we were both a bit punchy. We made it through most of the episode with no issue—I turned the sticky buns out of the [baking pan]( the top glistened with caramelly goo. It was finally time to taste the buns. We were ravenous and I am not kidding when I say that I could instantaneously feel a sugar rush at first bite. I looked over at Julia and her eyes were wide and her cheeks were rosy. From there . . . well it’s all kind of a blur, but our ever-knowing, Emmy Award–winning, fantastic director Herb Sevush knew to keep the cameras rolling and film Julia and me dissolving into uncontrollable laughter for the next 20 minutes. You can see the extended version [here](. I’ve never been able to look at sticky buns the same way. Next time you’re cooking, embrace the mistakes, and don’t let perfect become the enemy of good. You might just create some wonderful blooper moments of your own. Members get every recipe, review, and video. Get instant access to everything from the most trusted cooking experts.
