Trump is just getting started. Help us resist. Thanks to everyone who’s supported our fundraising campaign, we’re almost halfway to our $250,000 fundraising goal. When we reach our goal, we’ll have the funds to hire two more reporters who can be focused on holding the Trump administration accountable. Help us get there: [donate any amount today], or [donate $40 and get a T-shirt]. We’re in a unique position to do our best work ever. While the rest of the media chases the latest distraction Trump throws into the circus ring, we remain focused on the news that matters. Other reporters have fallen hard for Trump’s signature trick: distract media with a flashy diversion. Recently, his team paraded a string of celebrities—Ray Lewis, Kanye West, and the Naked Cowboy, to name a few—through the lobby of Trump tower. ThinkProgress didn’t take the bait. On the same day Kanye’s appearance burned up an entire news cycle, we were publishing stories that actually mattered: who’s being put in charge of the country’s nuclear program; the financial entanglements behind Condoleeza Rice’s endorsement of Rex Tillerson for secretary of State. On the same day other news organizations were buying into the spectacle of the reality-TV presidency, we reported on the rapidly deteriorating conditions in Aleppo, the EPA’s new position that fracking contaminates drinking water, and the addition of yet another climate denier to the Trump cabinet. This a critical moment for American journalists, and while others are still finding their footing and determining how to respond to Trump’s distractions, we’re well underway and ahead of the game. [Donate today] and help us raise the funds to hire two new investigative reporters to focus on the Trump administration. Our $250,000 fund is halfway full, and with your help we can reach our goal and expand our efforts.
