Project 2025 would abandon American families and small businesses in a time of crisis [A person walks through a flooded street in Cedar Key, Florida, caused by the rain and storm surge from Hurricane Debby on August 5, 2024. (Getty/Joe Raedle)]( Photo credit: Getty Images It’s been more than a week since Hurricane Helene first made landfall and devastated the Southeast and Appalachia. Yet many families [still lack access to running water]( and are now facing the tremendous task of rebuilding their communities, their homes, and their lives. In times such as these, federal programs—such as the Small Business Administration’s disaster loan program—play a critical role in providing swift and efficient support to families and businesses recovering from extreme weather events. But far-right proposals in Project 2025 threaten to [eliminate]( this essential support. Without federal aid, people and small businesses trying to recover from disasters such as Hurricane Helene would face insurmountable costs. With the consequences of the climate crisis causing insurance rates to skyrocket, many already struggle to protect their homes and livelihoods. Yet Project 2025 suggests privatization as a solution, ignoring the real financial challenges millions are facing. We must ensure all communities have the support they need in the face of growing climate threats. [Learn More]( What are the most frequently asked questions about Project 2025? [Ask more QUESTIONS]( Project 2025 would be a climate disaster [Text reads: “Hurricane Helene is the deadliest hurricane in the U.S. since Katrina. (Getty/Los Angeles Times/Christina House)]( Photo credit: Getty Images It’s officially the start of cold and flu season, and thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), nearly 54 million Medicare beneficiaries have access to no-cost vaccines that can protect them from respiratory illnesses, including respiratory syncytial virus. That’s because the IRA requires [Medicare drug plans]( known as prescription drug, or Part D, plans—to make all [recommended]( vaccines [free for enrollees](. But Project 2025 would eliminate this guarantee by repealing the [IRA](. If the law were repealed, along with losing guaranteed free vaccine access, Medicare Part D enrollees would also no longer benefit from the program’s [$35 monthly insulin cost cap]( and next year’s [$2,000 annual out-of-pocket cap]( on all drugs.
