He wasnât sure heâd be able to make the almost 37-mile trek through harsh conditions while carrying everything he needed on his back. I get it... This trip isnât for the faint of heart. But he ultimately decided that he wanted to challenge himself. So he made the trip and pushed himself in ways he never had before. Critically short telomeres set in motion what Harvard researchers call a âdeath spiralâ in your cells.1,2 The shorter your telomeres, the more prone you are to the weakening effects of âold age,â and diseases like cancer... heart disease... arthritis... Alzheimerâs... Parkinsonâs... and diabetes. But research shows you can reverse telomere shortening by activating telomerase, the enzyme that rebuilds telomeres. Hereâs what I recommend: - Supplement with Centella asiatica: A recent study in the journal Molecular Medicine Reports found that human blood cells treated with a compound containing Centella asiatica extract â from the medicinal plant also known as gotu kola â saw a nearly 9-fold increase in telomerase activity compared with untreated cells. Additional testing on animals demonstrated the âpotential role of this formula in the prevention and treatment of aging related diseases.â3,4 I suggest taking 300 mg a day. - Take the âking of medicines.â Just recently, researchers discovered the effects of an Ayurvedic fruit on our DNA. They evaluated extract from the fruit of the Terminalia chebula tree and found that it not only inhibits the oxidative stress that causes aging but lengthens telomeres by as much as 40%!5 - Boost the âred wineâ compound A 2021 study found that resveratrol significantly improved telomerase activity, telomere length, and age-related gene expression in mice.6 It also âturns onâ genes that promote longevity and âturn offâ genes that promote disease. Red wine may be a popular source of resveratrol. But youâd need to drink gallons of wine to get the telomere benefits. Thatâs why I recommend supplements. Take 100 mg per day for telomerase activation. But resveratrol is safe, so you could take up to 200 mg per day.
