Caminando en Lo Increíblemente Milagroso! . .YOU ARE A SPIRIT -Part 1 Before we talk about this subject, we may need to know the very foundation of it. There is only one authority on this: the Bible, the only infallible document in the entire world. The Bible tells us in John 4:24 that “God is a Spirit.” Also, Hebrews 12:9 states that God is the Father of spirits. No one can be a father of someone if that person is not his semblance. So, if God is the Father of spirits, He is a Spirit. In 1 John 4:4 and 6, the Bible says that we are of God. And if we are of God, we are like God. If God is a Spirit, we, too, are spirits. The human spirit comes from God because the Bible tells us that God created human beings in His own image or likeness. Indeed, in Genesis 1:26, the Bible tells us, “God said, Let us make man in our image.” So, all of us not only are spirits, but have all that God has because we are created in the very likeness of God. I am not saying here that we have the same rights or power as God. Rather, God has made us to be like Him. He made us gods on the earth to rule and have power over it, about the same way He rules or operates in heaven. Indeed, in Psalm 82:6, God says, “Ye are gods,” a fact Jesus Christ Himself echoes in John 10:34, where He says: “Is it not written in your law, I SAID, YE ARE GODS?” (emphasis added). There is this spiritual seed of God, or divine nature, in everybody--in every man, woman, boy, and girl. It is each person’s responsibility to nurture and grow it. In other words, we are supposed to cause that divine seed to grow. If I say that you are a spirit, I must explain and give the meaning of “spirit” and tell what spirits are like. We know spirits are bodiless beings because when God created man, the Bible says that He breathed into man the breath of life, which is the spirit that God gave to man from His own Spirit, which makes man do whatever he wants to do. And when the spirit in the body of a man leaves him, the man is considered dead because before God breathed life into man, man had no life. The relationship between the spirit, the soul, and the body also should be mentioned. Man has been rightly identified as a tripartite being, a trinity. A man is a spirit that has a soul and is living in a body. The spirit is the source of life in the man, while God is the Source of life of the spirit in the man. The spirit gives character to the outer man and is the part that has fellowship with God because God is a Spirit. The soul is where the man’s intellect, emotion, mind, and will reside. The spirit is supposed to control everything within or outside the man. Unfortunately, man allows other things to take control of him. This is not supposed to be so.
