[Adam Schiff for Senate]( [{NAME}, will you contribute $5 to Adam’s campaign before his June 30 FEC deadline?]( [DONATE $5]( The country, and indeed the world, are in a precarious moment. Respect for elections and trust in the democratic process are eroding worldwide. Misinformation and disinformation campaigns, propagated across social media, are testing long-held assumptions about our ability to stop the lies before they take hold of entire populations. Donald Trump has built a cult of personality that is stunning to historical scholars. He emulates not Lincoln, Roosevelt, or Kennedy, but global authoritarian leaders like Vladimir Putin, Kim Jong Un, and Xi Jinping. There is no way of understanding how dangerous he is — he is running to be president and commander-in-chief of the world’s greatest economic and military superpower, he has already incited an insurrection against that government when he lost, and the cult he has surrounded himself with is too cowardly to stop him from attempting to do it again, and possibly succeeding. Not after multiple impeachments. Not after his election lies. Not even after January 6th. He claimed the election was rigged in 2016. In 2020. And he is already casting doubt on 2024. He has called the January 6 insurrectionists patriots and political prisoners. The United States has not been perfect, and indeed there remains much we still need to fix, but we have been able to conduct the vast majority of our elections for nearly 250 years with the civil exchange of ideas between political parties. That will all be tested and decided in the next election. Can we protect and maintain this democratic system of government, or will Trump and his MAGA co-conspirators succeed in the insurrection attempt they failed at in 2020 — or win outright if we become complacent? [No one who loves this country and cares about its future can sit this election out — it may well be regarded by historians as the most pivotal in American history in the years and decades to come. We can have no regrets that we could have done more when our efforts could really make a difference. Please, {NAME}, Adam needs your $5 of support to fight for our democracy and defeat Trump’s MAGA movement.
