It’s heartbreaking when those we trust to protect animals end up causing harm. This is exactly what happened in the tragic case of Peanut, or “P’Nut” – a beloved pet squirrel and social media star, seized and euthanized by New York’s Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) in Pine City, NY. Peanut’s life didn’t have to end this way.  The DEC's decision to take Peanut away from a family that loved him, and a community that cherished him online, feels like a devastating overreach. His untimely and unnecessary death is a loss for all of us, and a failure of the institutions meant to protect animals, not destroy them.  We’re calling for accountability and change. Join us in demanding that the New York State DEC issue a formal apology to Peanut's family and reform policies to prevent this from happening to other beloved pets.  [Add your name to the petition now to demand justice for Peanut and call for policy reform. Let’s make sure his loss is not in vain and that no other animal suffers the same fate.]( [ADD YOUR NAME]( Thank you for taking action.  – Left Click   Left Click is made up of activists, volunteers, and concerned citizens who help shape strategy, inform policy, and build teams of movers and shakers nationwide.
