{NAME}, we need your help to protect the right to speak up and protest.  The company behind the Dakota Access Pipeline, Energy Transfer, is suing Greenpeace USA. They’re wrongly accusing Greenpeace of organizing the protests at Standing Rock in 2016-2017, and in doing so are trying to erase the Indigenous leadership who led this historic protest.  This trial starts in February 2025, and if Greenpeace loses, the organization could face massive financial damage, putting an end to over 50 years of work protecting the environment.  But this lawsuit is not just devastating to Greenpeace. This is a direct threat to everyone’s right to protest and organize.. If Energy Transfer wins, it could make it easier for powerful companies to attack and silence activists, unions, and journalists. For decades, Greenpeace has defended rainforests, protected oceans, and fought against climate change, standing up for the planet and its people. Now, they need us to lend a hand and show our support by signing onto this letter to Energy Transfer.  [By signing the open letter, you can help stop this unfair lawsuit. Together, supporters can protect Greenpeace, defend free speech, and stand up for the rights of all people to speak out.]( [ADD YOUR NAME]( After signing, please share this email with friends and family.
