America’s housing crisis is out of control. Families across the country are being squeezed by skyrocketing rents while corporate landlords pocket record profits. Many are spending over half their income just to keep a roof over their heads.  In states like Michigan, rents have jumped 45% since the pandemic—and in many places, laws prevent local leaders from stepping in to protect renters. It’s time for Congress to take action and ensure everyone has access to safe, affordable housing.  We need federal rent control that stops predatory rent hikes, protects renters nationwide, and provides a path to affordable homes for all.
