{NAME}—  Here at The Climate Center, we envision a future where everyone in California enjoys clean air and water, renewable and reliable energy, healthy food, thriving nature, and more — and we’re doing the work to push lawmakers in Sacramento to enact the policies that will get us there.  This year, the California state legislature is considering a suite of bills that would finally force corporate polluters to pay their fair share. From cleaning up abandoned oil wells that spew toxins to forcing oil corporations to pay for environmental damages, we have a chance to hold the companies responsible for the climate crisis accountable. [MAKE POLLUTERS PAY]( Oil corporations have known for decades that their pollution was poisoning people and fueling the climate crisis. Still, politicians have not forced Big Oil to pay for the destruction it has caused.  Big Oil has spent $7.2 million on lobbying during the first three months of 2024 to stop climate action in California. They’ll stop at nothing to protect their profits, even while Californians endure record-breaking climate disasters year after year.  Climate denial is not a victimless crime. Floods, wildfires, heat waves, and storms have claimed thousands of lives and cost California billions of dollars. It’s only fair that oil corporations pay to clean up the mess they created and profited from.  [Sign now to demand that California puts people before polluters by enacting laws that hold Big Oil accountable for the climate crisis!]( – The Climate Center    Left Click is made up of activists, volunteers, and concerned citizens who help shape strategy, inform policy, and build teams of movers and shakers nationwide.
