Hi {NAME}! Yesterday, we talked about how your psychological wallet dictates your self-confidence or lack of it. And it shows with the way you deal with pricing negotiations and conversations with your prospective clients. Either you’d be firm about your asking fees because you know the value you bring to the table… Or you’d accept lower fees despite the workload kasi “sayang naman” at “baka wala nang ‘maligaw’ na kliyente” sa job profile mo. The latter is your psychological wallet leaning towards having a scarcity mind. You might have this belief na malas ka when it comes to money matters… Walang sumusugal na client sa’yo… Kahit anong job offer — even if hindi aligned sa skill na ino-offer mo — papatusin mo na lang kasi “sayang din ‘yung pera na kikitain dun”. However, we also discussed what you could be missing out on whenever you just settle for what’s in front of you, even if they’re less than what you deserve. Now… There’s another way your scarcity mindset shows in relation to freelance copywriting. Ready ka na bang malaman? HAHAHA! Well, simple lang naman… It’s how you view spending money in exchange for a structured set of learning materials to fast-track your freelance copywriting journey. In short, your perception about paid courses and programs. Sure, marami naman talagang quality content online na walang charge… No one is stopping you from consuming them… No one is forcing you either to buy paid content… So hindi ko talaga gets why there are people who keep sending me, something along the lines of, “Kung may bayad, ‘wag na lang”. And that’s the most toned down version I can do similar to their messages. Kung alam n’yo lang… HAHAHA! Anyways… I just want to relate this type of message with somehow having a scarcity mind. May “somehow” kasi I understand na depende pa rin sa context ‘yung sentence na ‘yan. Pero if you’re saying “no” kasi may payment involved… …na you’d rather do it on your own with what’s available to you… …but at the same time, you’re also after earning more money fast with the skill you’re just learning… Then yes, you have a scarcity mindset. Why? Because you’re viewing paid courses and programs as just another expense instead of an investment that will give you ROI in the future. You’d rather DIY using resources that don't cost you a cent without knowing if you’re consuming updated content or not… ‘Tapos there’s no assurance pa if you’d actually learn anything from the resources you randomly downloaded online… And if, for some unfortunate instance, you studied outdated content, edi back to square one ka na naman? Just by looking at this, makaka-save ka nga ng money pero you’re spending the most expensive resource you have — your time — which you won’t ever get back kahit pa maging industry expert ka in the long run. Now, compare this with those who not only invested their time and effort to pursue copywriting… They also invested in themselves and enrolled in a program to help them improve faster. Between the two examples, who do you think really saved more resources like time and money, and has a higher chance at getting a return on their investment in a shorter time? I think we both know the obvious answer. The first one saved money, then invested their time and effort, instead… But they took the long path of doing trials and errors, figuring things out by themselves until they became an expert. How long? Well, that would depend on how many hours per day they can commit to really make it work for them, learning copywriting on their own… Plus, of course, how well they can distinguish between updated and outdated resources. For sure, if you were to achieve this milestone nang DIY lahat, ‘tapos magiging influencer ka… You’d be one of those na gagawa ng content about “Things I Wish I Did or Knew Earlier to Get to Where I Am Now Faster”... HAHAHA! For the second naman, they invested their money, time, and effort to get the “shortcut” to fast-track their copywriting journey… So they wouldn’t have to go through the trials and errors since their coach or mentor already did. Sure, they had to part with their hard-earned money at the beginning… But they also understand that it would return to them ten-fold if they commit to following and finishing the program they enrolled in. Just to be clear, I have nothing against people who want to do it by themselves kasi it’s possible naman talaga… Pero manage your expectations din kasi if you were to go this path. Kaya lang, ‘yung mga nae-encounter ko kasi, gustong mabilis magka-resulta pero ayaw mag-invest ng money, or mag-allot ng time and effort para ma-achieve ‘yung goal na ‘yun. Meron namang willing lang daw sila maglabas ng pera if sure na may trabaho agad sila after. Ano kaya ‘yun? HAHA! Even experienced copywriters are not exempt from this. Like, they have the skills, results, and experience to charge high fees… But somehow, stuck pa rin sila sa income range nila kasi dala-dala pa rin nila within them the same money mindset they had when they were just starting… That if they change their pricing strategy, natatakot sila na baka sa isang iglap, wala nang client na makipagtrabaho sa kanila. I know a lot of freelancers who have this fear… Which is sad kasi they really have the potential… Not to mention, some of them are even more skilled than those who are closing higher deals… But unless and until they break through their scarcity mindset and into an abundance-focused one… They’d stay where they are, even if their wins pile up. So if you can relate with this, {NAME}... Take some time to reflect on this, and find ways to change your relationship with money. Because at the end of the day, despite how many mindset videos you watch… You are the only one who can save yourself and shift your mindset. :) Rooting for you, Mark Darwin Balaswit P.S. Share ko na lang din since we talked about paid programs today. HAHA! Soon, I’ll be opening (and probably for the last time) my flagship program called “7-Figure Launch Email Copywriter”. No joke dun sa baka last launch na ‘to ng 7FLEC. HAHA! I already told you briefly about this in my past emails. Let me know na lang if you’re interested and what you’re looking forward to sa 7FLEC. Ibuhos na natin lahat dito. HAHAHA! That’s all for now. Thanks for reading! :) Sent to: {EMAIL} [Unsubscribe]( Top Dog Copywriter, Barangay Commonwealth, 1121 Quezon City, Philippines
