[image] From the Founder Hi {NAME}! I have a theory about why scaling your business feels so FORCED. But to explain it I need to share an experience that mimics business growth a lot: giving birth. If you haven't given birth, please come along anyway, I promise it's not scary. During my first birth, my midwives were telling me to push. You know, like you see on TV? “PUSH!” I pushed. “PUSH!” I pushed. After a lot of effort, the baby came out. I had some tearing and regular birth stuff to recover from, but as far as I knew this was all normal. With my second birth, I’d learned a new concept. This time, I didn't want any “coached pushing.” Instead, I would trust the process and if it took longer or if the urge to push wasn't there, I wouldn't force it. This birth progressed differently. I waited around a lot longer with gentle contractions. But after a quick rest, it felt like things were happening and I had to hold back because the baby was coming out, pronto. No one told me to push. I didn't tear. I was less tired, and recovered better this time around. Now you could chalk that up to being a second time mom, and I'm sure that had something to do with it. But a big part of this smoother experience was that no one was telling me when to push. Especially not when I was tired. In the business space, we're constantly being told to "push". Each piece of advice we hear can feel like a badly timed order to push. Especially when we already feel like we've given it our all, and we're already tired. So what’s the solution? First, I still think coaching is helpful. I'm so grateful to the midwives who coached me for months before and after each birth. But there's a difference between listening to advice and coaching, and listening to your own internal drive. Your body, your intuition, your inner knowing is wiser than you think. It's gotten you this far, hasn't it? If you want to tap into it to help you grow, without pushing in detrimental ways... then you'll love the Scaling On Your Terms Workshop I'm hosting March 21st, 2023.
