As we creep closer and closer to Tuesday, November 5 (just 10 days away!), our nation will be faced with a choice: do we want to move forward with hope and progress, or do we want to take a step backward into the past with divisiveness and hate? {NAME}, As we creep closer and closer to Tuesday, November 5 (just 10 days away!), our nation will be faced with a choice: do we want to move forward with hope and progress, or do we want to take a step backward into the past with divisiveness and hate? As a Member of Congress and former CIA officer, I have taken an oath multiple times to protect and defend the Constitution, and Iâve seen how fragile democracy is, especially when extremists are undermining our institutions and sowing distrust. Like many Americans, I have been proud that our institutions held, not just during Trumpâs four-year presidency but in the aftermath of the 2020 election and amid the efforts he led to undermine and overturn the results of that election. However, our institutions did not hold on their own. They endured because people stood up for and defended themâindividuals ranging from Administration appointees and Members of Congress to local and state officials, as well as fellow Americans who spoke out with honesty.
