We read Project 2025. We cite the pages. We are horrified and wanted to share with you what we found. This is a long but important email.͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ 314 Action Fund is the only national organization working to train, recruit, support, and elect Democrats with STEM and medical backgrounds to office at all levels of government. To receive our most important updates,[click here](. To unsubscribe [you can click here.]( [314 Action Fund Logo]( Have you heard of Project 2025? It’s the 900-page manifesto of what a second term Trump Presidency and Republican-controlled Congress would do if elected. We read it so you wouldn’t have to – and we’ll even cite the pages in case Republicans try to claim we are misrepresenting their own words! Make no mistake, Project 2025 goes far above and beyond a national 50-state abortion ban without exceptions for rape, incest, or to save the life of the mother (Page 6). Before we go into detail [we’re asking if you will donate today ahead of our most important FEC deadline of the election so we can elect the largest wave of pro-choice doctors, nurses, OB/GYNs, pediatricians, clinicians, and pharmacists to ever run for office in American history.Â]( are the candidates who will fight to restore and protect reproductive rights and we need them in office more than ever before. On Pages 284 and 457, Project 2025 calls for the FDA to revoke the approval of multiple medications like the abortion pill (mifepristone) and even medication that is used to help induce childbirth and treat conditions unrelated to pregnancy (misoprostol). On Page 485 it then calls for the ending of coverage and access to contraceptives, including the morning-after and week-after pills in all 50 states. On Page 473, it then calls for the overturning of EMTALA (Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act) – the Federal doctrine that requires hospitals and doctors to provide life-saving care in life-or-death situations, including life-saving abortions. We’ve already heard from women in Idaho, Georgia, and Texas who nearly died because they could not be treated for miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies in a timely manner. Without EMTALA, medical providers would not be able to assist or intervene in those situations AT ALL in states with abortion restrictions under any circumstances. It gets worse – on Pages 459 and 562 it then calls for the weaponization of a Civil War-era bill (the Comstock Act) to make it a FELONY to ship, transport, or provide information about abortion pills. To reiterate, this would also supersede any state-level protections or ballot measures. Horrifying as that is, it doesn’t stop there. On Page 455, Project 2025 calls for the creation of a national abortion surveillance state that would require EVERY state to report data on any pregnant women who have sought abortion care or even attempted to research abortion care options. It also empowers states to pass abortion bounty hunter laws like the one in Texas that provides a financial incentive for private citizens to report and file suit against any woman they suspect sought an abortion or provided information to a woman regarding abortion. It then goes after providers of reproductive and maternal care: On Page 471 it calls for Planned Parenthood to be defunded and even calls for massive restrictions on the type of medical research and vaccine development that is allowed to be conducted in the United States – with criminal liabilities for doctors and researchers if they fail to follow new strict guidelines. On Page 588, it then encourages and calls for protections for individuals who protest, intimidate, and obstruct access to reproductive care facilities. None of this is an exaggeration and Republicans are already working to implement it: Multiple Republican Senators have already started drafting legislation to ban abortion nationally and the way it is written, it would seek to supersede state level protections, ballot measures, and constitutional amendments that have been enacted to safeguard access. A majority of Republicans in the House have already signed onto a bill that would ban IVF nationally – H.R. 431 would define life as starting at conception and criminalize and prosecute any doctors, nurses, or healthcare workers who engage in providing these treatments because by definition, any cells lost or damaged will be defined as persons. An amendment to carve out an exception for IVF and fertility treatments was REMOVED from the resolution. So what can we do? Project 2025 can be stopped this November by defeating Donald Trump and electing pro-choice majorities in Congress and state legislatures. We’re not just supporting a handful of pro-choice Democrats with backgrounds in science and healthcare this election – We’re supporting FOUR HUNDRED of them (more than 200 of which are women!). And we are finalizing plans to reach millions of voters in key races between now and Election Day. [But with early voting already underway in some areas, we’re running out of time to get them over the finish line and fully fund our programs. That’s why we’re asking if you will donate ahead of our FEC deadline so we can elect a historic wave of pro-choice champions that will make sure no aspect of Project 2025 gets enacted.]( If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will be immediately processed. Since 2017, we’ve supported more than 500+ candidates and reached millions of swing voters on their behalf with our data-driven messaging campaigns. Our candidates led the charge to flip the House in 2018, the Senate in 2021, and a handful of state legislatures in 2022. Now, there are more scientists in office than at any point in U.S. history. No one is better equipped to craft policy to address pressing issues like gun violence, climate change, healthcare reform, or restoring reproductive rights than scientific professionals. Recent polling confirms that scientific and medical professionals have some of the highest approval ratings and levels of trust among voters – Meaning our candidates are better positioned to win tough races and can cut through the partisan divide! 100% of our work is powered by individual donations and our average donation is just $19. We plan on supporting more Democratic scientists and medical professionals in virtually every state this election cycle than at any point in our history. With you by our side, we’ll defend our Senate majority, retake the House, keep the White House blue, and elect a historic wave of Democrats to state legislatures and local office.
