As an OB/GYN with experience working with Planned Parenthood and as a provider of reproductive health services, I wanted to talk to you about the abortion case the Supreme Court is hearing today (Moyle v. United States).  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ 314 Action Fund is the only national organization working to train, recruit, support, and elect Democrats with STEM and medical backgrounds to office at all levels of government. Decision Desk HQ just published their first election forecast: They give Republicans a 60% chance of holding the House. But if the three pro-choice women who are leading on reproductive rights featured below win their races, Democrats are projected to FLIP control of the House. That’s why we’re launching a Joint Fundraising Agreement benefitting Dr. Yadira Caraveo (the most vulnerable House Democrat), Dr. Kristin Lyerly (who would be the only pro-choice OB/GYN in Congress), and Christina Bohannan (who is running for a seat the GOP won by just 6 votes). Every dollar will be split between these incredible women when your support matters the most: All of them are up against their largest FEC fundraising deadlines of the election cycle to date. [Control of the House will be decided by a handful of votes in a handful of races. So can you donate as little as $3 so Yadira, Kristin, and Christina can win these 3 critical toss-up races?]( [DONATE »]( --------------------------------------------------------------- . Kristin Lyerly (WI-8) – Dr. Kristin Lyerly is an OB/GYN who worked with Planned Parenthood who has helped women access reproductive care in Wisconsin, Arizona, and Minnesota. When Republicans tried to ban abortion in all cases in Wisconsin, Kristin personally sued to stop them and successfully blocked the abortion ban from taking effect. Gov. Tony Evers JUST called a special election for the open GOP-held seat in Wisconsin’s 8th Congressional District – a district where Democrats were just three points shy of carrying this district in 2018 and 2023 in statewide elections. Republicans are worried Kristin will flip this seat: Donald Trump already personally endorsed her Republican opponent and sent his son to host a rally on his behalf. --------------------------------------------------------------- . Yadira Caraveo (CO-8) – In 2022, Nate Silver’s FiveThirtyEight gave Yadira Caraveo a 91% chance of losing this newly created House district. In the week before the election, her race was rated as LIKELY Republican. We never gave up on Yadira and invested nearly $400,000 to elect her as a first-time House candidate who would make history as the only pro-choice woman doctor of color in Congress if elected. It worked – Yadira won one of the 5 most competitive House races in the country by just 1% – 1,700 votes. Yadira is now the first Latina to represent Colorado in Congress and is only the second pro-choice physician who is a woman in the entire Congress (where she co-sponsored legislation to codify Roe v. Wade into law). A new poll shows Yadira in a statistical tie with her GOP opponent as Republicans just announced they will spend millions to defeat her. --------------------------------------------------------------- Bohannan (IA-1) – Christina Bohannan worked as an environmental engineer who inspected environmental sites for levels of contamination before becoming a law professor at the University of Iowa. She has a track record of winning tough races too. As a first-time candidate, she beat a 20-year incumbent in the State House by a massive margin of 30-points. The Republican she’s running against voted in support of a bill that would have restricted, if not banned, IVF access. Christina, who has been open about her own experiences with IVF, has campaigned heavily on protecting IVF access and codifying Roe v. Wade into Federal law. Polling shows Christina with a SLIGHT LEAD in a district Republicans only won by 6 votes in 2020. [Every single dollar will be directly split between Dr. Kristin Lyerly, Dr. Yadira Caraveo, and Christina Bohannan. A donation of $10 might not seem like it will make too much of a difference by itself. But when thousands of you chip in, in races as close as these, it will make all the difference.]( If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will be immediately processed and split between 314 Action, Kristin Lyerly, Yadira Caraveo, and Christina Bohannan. Since 2017, we’ve supported more than 500+ candidates and reached millions of swing voters on their behalf with our data-driven messaging campaigns. Our candidates led the charge to flip the House in 2018, the Senate in 2021, and a handful of state legislatures in 2022. Now, there are more scientists in office than at any point in U.S. history. No one is better equipped to craft policy to address pressing issues like gun violence, climate change, healthcare reform, or restoring reproductive rights than scientific professionals. Recent polling confirms that scientific and medical professionals have some of the highest approval ratings and levels of trust among voters – Meaning our candidates are better positioned to win tough races and can cut through the partisan divide! 100% of our work is powered by individual donations and our average donation is just $19. We plan on supporting more Democratic scientists and medical professionals in virtually every state this election cycle than at any point in our history. With you by our side, we’ll defend our Senate majority, retake the House, keep the White House blue, and elect a historic wave of Democrats to state legislatures and local office.
