The 8th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria made two decisions on confirmation hearings of ministerial nominees.
The decisions were, one, that the President should submit his list of ministerial nominees within 30 days of the inauguration of the Senate. This decision was based on the public outcry in 2015 when it took about six months for the President to submit the list.
The President did not meet the 30 daysâ prescription in 2019. [Read more](

Lawan announced the heads of the 69 committees during plenary on Tuesday July 30th 2019.

The Senate has confirmed the appointment of 43 ministerial nominees. The Upper Legislative Chamber confirmed all the nominees, including all those asked to"take a bow and go."
Consequently, the nominees will be given their respective portfolios by the President.

The Senate on Tuesday ordered the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki to re-issue a fresh proclamation for the inauguration of members of the State House of Assembly.
The decision followed the consideration of the report of the Ad-hoc committee chaired by Sabi Abdulahi which investigated the crisis.

Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State on Tuesday, July 30 charged officers and men of the state security, environmental and emergency agencies to be humane in their dealings with residents.
Sanwo-Olu gave the charge during an on-the-spot assessment tour of some the stateâs security, environmental and emergency agencies.
