Justice Mohammed Idris of a Federal High Court in Lagos, Monday, July 22, informed parties that he has been authorised by fiat to conclude the fraud trial of a former Governor of Abia, Orji Kalu.
Kalu was charged before Idris on an alleged N7.2billion fraud brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The EFCC is prosecuting Kalu, his former Commissioner for Finance, Jones Udeogu, and his company, Slok Nigeria Ltd, on an amended 39 count charge of fraud-related offences. [Read more](

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) says Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, the construction company handling rehabilitation work on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, has given notification of its plan to commence work. The repair work is expected to commence on the road from Aug 3.

Amnesty International, a global human rights organisation, has criticized the Nigerian Police Force over the attempt to "intimidate and harass" the Dakolos on Sunday, July 21.
Amnesty International made this statement via its Twitter handle.

The offence that bordered on criminal force and assault which is contrary to section 263 and 264 of the penal code.
