In the 50âs, the Michael Okpara government of Eastern Nigeria had farm settlements. Farmers lived in those settlements close to their farmlands and there were facilities in these settlements that supported family life. They had water and electricity. Schools and dispensaries were not far away.
In some parts of the former Eastern Region, those buildings are still there even though they have deteriorated. But they remain valuable relics of an era that people talk about with nostalgia. [Read more](

Universities Strike: Senate to broker peace between non-teaching staff and FG
In a move to prevent another shutdown of academic activities in government-owned universities, the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, has promised to invite the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the non-teaching staff in the Universities, National Universities Commission and the Federal Ministry of Education.

President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ayuba Wabba has stated there is no resolution over any strike action over the implementation of the new national minimum wage by the government.
