Bluecoat Press takes over our weekly newsletter! ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Bluecoat Press takes over our weekly newsletter! ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ From Vulcan’s Forge by Janine Wiedel. Tom Booth Woodger from Bluecoat Press here – it’s been a year since I took over as Head of Publishing and what a year it’s been. We’ve worked hard on revamping and redesigning Bluecoat, alongside creating a host of new books – highlights below. Being able to work with Daniel Meadows on Book of the Road, which was also exhibited at the Centre for British Photography in London, was a great privilege in 2023. And getting to connect in-person at the launches for Daniel Meadows’ book, and Ian Beesley’s LIFE, is what keeps us going. It was great to meet with fellow photobook enthusiasts. Looking ahead, we believe 2024 will be our biggest year yet with many more exciting titles in the pipeline, including This Was Then by Mike Abrahams and Vulcan’s Forge by Janine Wiedel. We will also be publishing a further four books in the coming year – stay tuned for details! And once again we will be at BOP in Bristol and Polycopies in Paris. In the meantime, as a way of saying thank you for all your support, we are offering 10% off all books and prints at Bluecoat Press. Head to [bluecoatpress.co.uk]( and use the code: NEWYEAR2024 [Build the way you want]( From Book of the Road by Daniel Meadows. Daniel Meadows - Book of the Road Driving over 10,000 miles in a double-decker bus, the wild-haired young Meadows spent 14 months mapping the length and breadth of England, photographing 958 people and offering a free print to each of his subjects. Along the way, amongst countless breakdowns, parking tickets and random acts of kindness, he had chance encounters with the likes of Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant. Meadows’ determination allowed him to assemble all this material into a cartographic census of an evolving nation. Named by Matt Stuart, Russ O’Connell, Alys Tomlinson and Amy Davies as one of their favourite books of 2023. [Buy the book]( [Build the way you want]( From Children by Markéta Luskačová. Markéta Luskačová – Children In more than 30 images, carefully selected from an expansive archive spanning 1967 to 2004, Children presents adolescence as a universal experience, one which remains fundamentally similar across time and place. The catalogue offers a unique collection of previously unpublished images from Luskačová’s half-century long study of youth, celebrating her dedication to the subject, and her contribution to the history of humanist documentary photography. [Buy the book]( [Build the way you want]( From Portrait of Britain Volume 6. Image by David Titlow. Portrait of Britain Vol. 6 Portrait of Britain is an award run by British Journal of Photography. Comprising 200 remarkable photographs, Portrait of Britain Volume 6 is a testament to the resilience, strength and unity that define the people of the United Kingdom. [Buy the book]( [Build the way you want]( From The North by John Bulmer. John Bulmer – The North A true Bluecoat Press classic, now in its fourth reprint. John Bulmer’s photographs were taken at a time when the North was undergoing a vast transformation. The collapse of traditional industries, that had been the wealth creators of the Industrial Revolution, was deeply affecting communities throughout the region; from the Black Country and Potteries through the Cotton Belt of Greater Manchester up to the coalfields and shipbuilding yards of the North-east and Glasgow. [Buy the book]( We can’t wait to share our new books with you. Make sure you [sign up to the Bluecoat Press newsletter]( for early access and exclusive offers in 2024.
