Courtesy Maximillian William Venice Biennale and Fotografia Europea have been keeping us busy over the past few weeks – read on for our preview of the Reggio Emilia showcase, while Ravi Ghosh’s photo writeup of the Biennale is now online. Across the water, it’s the final day of the New York Art Book Fair. Today’s picks include Ward Long signing his excellent Standstill at 3pm at the Deadbeat Club booth, while at Printed Matter’s space on 11th Avenue, Akshay Mahajan and Devadeep Gupta present Kaghazi Pairahan (meaning clothes made of paper), an exhibition of prints, zines and ephemera from 15 artists tracing South Asian anti-colonial resistance from 1857 to the present day. In London, John Edmonds’ One is open for another week at Maximillian William: it’s a beautiful survey of six years of equivocal portraiture and ruminations on the power of community, while also looking to African sculpture and technical experimentation. And exciting news from Adam Rouhana, whose pictures of young Palestinians we featured in our [Virtual Reality]( issue (and which also looked great in the group show South West Bank in Venice). He will mount his first solo show, Before Freedom, at Frieze No.9 Cork Street for a two-week run from 3 May. This one’s curated by Amah-Rose Abrams. Finally, an update for Portrait of Humanity entrants: the judging process has started and we’re looking forward to designing the book with Bluecoat Press in the next few weeks. The winning series and single-images will be on display at Four Corners (UK), Indian Photo Festival and, to kick things off, and at Poland’s Fotofestiwal's 'Night of Photography' in June. It’ll come round before you know it. Venice Biennale photography review: Is truth enough?
